8 Fun & Fabulous Cues For Hosting A Girls' Night In

"Sex And The City" Style!

They say nothing lasts forever, dreams change, trends come and go, but friendships never go out of style - Carrie Bradshaw, Sex and the City

These ladies stole our hearts and oh how we've missed them.  It's time to celebrate their return and the friendship that has entertained and inspired us.

You girls are the loves of her life, a guy is lucky to come in fourth. -
Mr. Big

Gather the "loves of your life" for a fun Girls' Night In.   Invite the girls in for drinks dinner and the "Sex and the City" movie.  Take your cues from the fierce foursome and celebrate the spirit of friendship.

Cue 1: APPRECIATE THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP.

The most important thing in life is your family. There are days you love them, and others you don't. But, in the end, they're the people you always come home to.  Sometimes it's the family you're born into and sometimes it's the one you make for yourself.

Cue 2: BE IN THE PARTY SPIRIT.

I don't believe in the Republican party or the Democratic party.  I just believe in parties.

- Samantha

Rekindle the Sex and the City Spirit.

Cue 3: CALL TO INVITE YOUR GIRLFRIENDS.
I don't believe in email. I'm an old-fashioned girl. I prefer calling and hanging up.

- Carrie

Cue 4: DRESS THE PART.

I'm thinking balls are to men what purses are to women. It's just a little bag, but we feel naked in public without it.

- Carrie

Tell your girlfriends to wear their favorite high heels, a touch of bling, and of course a great purse.   For a collection of jewelry and handbags inspired by Sex and the City

Cue 5: COSMOS GO WITH EVERYTHING.
Yes, I'd like a cheeseburger, please, large fries and a cosmopolitan.

- Carrie

Shake up some Cosmos and serve in gorgeous martini glasses - add some bling by decorating the base of each glass with your girlfriends' first initial with adhesive "bling" (the kind they use to "dress up" cell phones).

The Perfect COSMO

original recipe by Mixologist, Dalio Calado

2 oz Christiania Vodka
1 Fresh Lime hand squeezed
1 oz Cointreau
2 oz Cranberry Juice

Pour ingredients in a shaker over ice.
Shake well and pour into a chilled martini glass.
Use a lime wheel to float in the glass as a garnish.

Cue 6: ORDER TAKE OUT and CUPCAKES
The only thing I've ever successfully made in the kitchen is a mess. And several little fires.

- Carrie

Order in Chinese food and eat out of the cartons - the girls had plenty of booze, glasses, shoes and purses, but not much in the department of dishes and serving pieces. Makes for easy serving and cleaning up so you can get on your way the movie.  For a sweet way to end your night have Cupcakes on hand.  Buy gourmet if you can, the really dreamy, decadent kind that Carrie made famous.  Give them the attention they deserve by serving them up on a pedestal dish.

 Cue 7: HANG OUT.
In the end I decided I was definitely 34 going on 35, but in a city like New York, with its pace and its pressures, sometimes it's important to have a 13-year-old moment. To remember a simpler time when the best thing in life was just hanging out, listening to records and having fun with your friends.

- Carrie

Put on some music (you must play the theme song from the series ( music link), have a cocktail and some food and simply enjoy each other's company.  Just before popping in the DVD, watch some highlights from the finale (finale link) .

Cue 8: LIVE IN THE MOMENT, ENJOY YOUR GIRLFRIENDS!
It would be childish of us to deny that our lives weren't changing. But for this night, none of us were going anywhere. That's the thing about really good friends and a really great Manhattan. -Carrie

Think about it. If you are single, after graduation there isn't one occasion where people celebrate you. ... Hallmark doesn't make a "congratulations, you didn't marry the wrong guy" card. And where's the flatware for going on vacation alone?

-  Carrie

It's really hard to walk in a single woman's shoes -- that's why you sometimes need really special shoes!
